tumblr needs to calm down. tattoos of dreamcatchers are not meant to offend native americans.

Why don’t you start first?

as an Ojibwe person, a member of the tribe where dreamcatchers originated, i am deeply offended when i see a part of my culture on someones ass, or any other body part, what was meant by it doesn’t matter, i am offended, it bothers me deeply. this isn’t “tumblr” talking, this is an actual Ojibwe person, saying keep my culture off of your body

Why the fuck do people have to get so offended by the choices of others? If you don’t like it, ignore it. It’s not harming you or your culture. If someone thinks something is beautiful enough to get it permanently on their bodies, it should be more of a compliment than an insult. It’s not like they’re burning a dreamcatcher, it’s not like they’re saying your culture is a pile of shit, they’re not doing ANYTHING TO YOU.

“When a person tells you that you hurt them, you don’t get to decide that you didn’t.” -Louis C.K.

maybe you’ll listen if the words come from another white man, just ignore me, enrolled Ojibwe person, part of a group of people that were almost killed off, language stripped from us, and couldn’t even legally practice some of our ceremonies in the US until the indian religious freedom act 1978.
